Context
Barclays is one of the largest financial services companies in the world, engaged primarily in banking, investment banking and investment management. cScape designed several interactive maps on Barclays intranets across the business.
Challenge
After implementing a flash map on Barclays' Group intranet, cScape was asked to create additional dynamic and interactive maps for several Barclays departments and business units. Barclays employees using the Group intranet said the design and usability are of excellent quality and that the map helped to reinforce the sense that they are part of an international company. The aim of the additional maps was to demonstrate Barclays' global presence and to give employees an easy way of finding practical information about their branches and colleagues at home and abroad.
Solution
Emulating Google Earth, cScape designed dynamic maps that show the international locations of the company; passing their mouse over the locations, users can see exactly what operations Barclays conducts there. There is information about the country, such as local time, and about Barclays units and branches, with photos and contact details of employees.
Outcome
Combining personal information of employees with business details, the maps help strengthen employee-relations through social networking, while providing easy ways to answer business-related queries. They also help communicate to users that their everyday roles play an important part in the overall, global operations of the company.
