Context
Barclays is one of the largest financial services companies in the world, engaged primarily in banking, investment banking and investment management. cScape was appointed to design and implement its Group Intranet using Microsoft SharePoint. Serving 118,000 employees in 60 different countries, the Group Intranet will perform a vital role in keeping everyone abreast of developments across the whole company.
Challenge
Barclays wanted to create a new Group Intranet to host Group strategic and corporate content and provide a Group presence. Their goal was to build employee understanding of the Group as a whole and increase employee allegiance to it.
Solution
cScape created a user-friendly design using SharePoint which can be easily managed internally from Barclays. The principal functions of the intranet include disseminating news both from and on Barclays, the communication of its guiding principles, and a facility for John Varley, Barclays’ CEO, to speak to the whole company via blogs, speeches, and a discussion forum.Â
Outcome
Response to the new intranet has been overwhelmingly positive, especially on the new design and layout. Employees have found the intranet to be both useful and important in understanding the bigger picture of where the Group is heading and where their contributions to the company fits in.
